Lenders assess business loan applications on a combination of credit history, financial performance, banking conduct and documentation quality. While there is no guaranteed way to secure approval, a few habits tend to strengthen most applications.
Maintaining a healthy credit score for both the business and its promoters, avoiding cheque bounces or loan overdue, and keeping GST/ITR filings current all contribute to a stronger credit picture.
Clean, well-organised bank statements that clearly show operating cash flows — rather than frequent cash withdrawals or unexplained transfers — make it easier for a lender to assess repayment capacity.
Reducing existing high-cost debt where possible, keeping a reasonable debt-to-turnover ratio, and being able to articulate a clear purpose and repayment plan for the new loan also help.
Ultimately, approval, amount, rate and tenure are decided solely by the lending institution based on its own credit policy. This article is for general awareness and does not guarantee any loan outcome.
